Digital control tower for dispatch teams

Freightly by Vossloh digitises logistics with a cloud-based transport management system (TMS) for companies across the logistics and supply chain industry. The platform streamlines processes from procurement to invoicing, automates repetitive tasks and simplifies document exchange with freight forwarders, shipping lines and airlines. The TMS integrates into existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, automates pricing for quotes and orders, and connects organisations with their logistics network and partners for end-to-end visibility.

Together with the operations team we turned Freightly into a command centre: quote calculation, load planning and documentation now live in one interface – enriched with live data from the ERP and carrier systems.

In parallel the TMS was wired to SAP and the partner network – across modern API and EDI interfaces.

Historic data plus current capacity feed a pricing engine that suggests buy and sell rates for every lane.

Document hub

Waybills, invoices and customs docs are stored automatically, versioned and shared with third-party systems.

Modules in action

Visualises open and running transports with filters for lane, margin band and carrier.

Control tower KPIs

Dashboards for cost per shipment, utilisation per hub and service levels.

Workflow & collaboration

Goals

Goals and hypotheses were validated with operations and controlling.

  • Cut time from request to dispatch in half.
  • Replace manual pricing spreadsheets.
  • Provide transparent KPIs for procurement and partners.

Challenges

Data consistency

Multiple ERP instances and carrier formats had to be harmonised.

Change management

Dispatchers previously lived entirely in email and spreadsheets.

Regulatory requirements

Export control, customs and audit trails demand strict permissions.

Operations & compliance

  • EU hosting with documented TOMs and annual pen tests.
  • Role model for shipping, procurement, partners and audit.
  • API-first: SAP, TMS and external data sources connected via queues.

Rollout & evolution

Bi-weekly releases with demos for dispatch lead and controlling.

New carriers join through an onboarding playbook.

KPIs on cost, utilisation and SLA get updated after every release.
